A painting of a man with a beard, wearing a white robe and a hat, standing with arms outstretched. The background is composed of a grid of soft pastel-colored bricks, and a large shadow of the figure is cast on the wall behind him. He is holding a single white flower in his right hand.

Re.Imagination

RE.IMAGINATION — an exhibition by The55Project, curated by Dr. Ross Karlan — presents the work of Heloísa Maia, Liene Bosquê, Nino Cais, Pedro Delgado, Fernanda Froes, John Brendan Guinan, Cássio Markowski, Maria Lira Marques, Rafael RG, and Yelaine Rodriguez.

The exhibition takes its premise from Jorge Luis Borges’s micro-story La Trama. A betrayed gaucho is stabbed in a remote Argentine province—an act that mirrors, with uncanny symmetry, the assassination of Julius Caesar. Borges concludes: “Fate takes pleasure in repetitions, variants, and symmetries.” History, then, is no linear chronicle but a lattice of recurring motifs, continually reappearing in altered form and open to fresh interpretation.

About Fundación Pablo Atchugarry

In December 2018, the Fundación Pablo Atchugarry opened its second location, in a space adjacent to the Piero Atchugarry Gallery, in the neighborhood of Little Haiti, in Miami, FL, located near Miami’s Design District. With the aim to expand the foundation to North America and continue to contribute to the development of visual art, art history knowledge, and passion for the arts. The exhibition program combines both contemporary and modern art, to bring a refreshing look at art history and to foster an understanding of how art movements can influence each other through time and space.
