2021 Residency:
Nádia Taquary

Nádia Taquary

NÁDIA TAQUARY investigates traditions and practices surrounding Afro-Brazilian sacred knowledge, with a particular focus on Black women and their ancestral legacy. Her work seeks to question and dismantle eugenic, Eurocentric, and patriarchal narratives that have long restricted access to essential forms of knowledge and understanding related to the rich heritage of pre-colonial Africas. She has held solo exhibitions in Salvador, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paris, and Miami, and has participated in group exhibitions in Los Angeles, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, and New York. More recently, Nádia took part in the 24th Biennale of Sydney, and her latest solo exhibition, Ònà Irin: caminho de ferro, is on view at the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR) through the end of April. Her works are part of major institutional collections, including the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), the Museum of Arts and Design, New York (MAD), the Pinacoteca de São Paulo, Inhotim, the Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR), and the Museu de Arte Moderna da Bahia (MAM/BA).

About the Residency and Exhibition

In 2025, artists Bel Falleiros and Renata Cruz took part in a residency at The55Project Art and Residency Program in Miami. During their time in residence, they developed a collaborative investigation into inner landscapes, perception, and expanded notions of territory.

The residency culminated in the exhibition Inward Vastness, which brought together works that explore intimacy, scale, and the subtle geographies of the inner self.
