The55Project Art Foundation: Supporting Brazilian Artists in Miami

Acquisitions Committee

The55Project’s Acquisitions Committee is a by-invitation group of curators, trustees, members, and collectors committed to strengthening the presence of Brazilian artists in institutional collections.

The committee meets twice a year to research, discuss, and recommend artists and works for potential acquisition and donation to museums and other institutions. Selections consider artistic significance, institutional context, questions of representation, and how each work relates to an institution’s existing holdings.

The committee also supports the development of The55Project Collection, building a holding that reflects the Foundation’s mission and its ongoing research into Brazilian contemporary art.

Throughout the year, members take part in conversations with curators, advisors, and other specialists, deepening their understanding of collecting practices, institutional acquisition processes, the art market, and current developments in contemporary art.

Through research, dialogue, and collective decision-making, the Acquisitions Committee offers a framework for informed collecting while helping expand the representation of Brazilian artists in collections in the United States and internationally.
