The55Project Art Foundation presents the group exhibition "RE.IMAGINATION" at Fundación Pablo Atchugarry, Miami. Curated by Dr. Ross Karlan, the show brings together works by Cássio Markowski, Fernanda Froes, Heloisa Maia, John Brendan Guinan, Liene Bosquê, Maria Lira Marques, Nino Cais, Pedro Delgado, Rafael RG (FOCO ArtRio Award), and Yelaine Rodriguez.
RE.IMAGINATION explores the cyclical nature of history and memory, while also expanding The55Project's curatorial scope, as it marks the institution's first group exhibition to include non Brazilian artists, reinforcing its commitment to intercultural narratives, interwoven histories, and perspectives that cross different geographies.
The exhibition draws on Jorge Luis Borges's micro story "La Trama," whose narrative follows a betrayed gaucho whose death, in a remote province of Argentina, mirrors the assassination of Julius Caesar with an unsettling symmetry. Building on Borges's reflection that "fate delights in repetitions, variations, and symmetries," the exhibition proposes that history is not a continuous line but a web of recurring motifs.
The participating artists treat the past not as a fixed archive but as raw material to be reconstructed and recontextualized. From distinct perspectives, they investigate fundamental themes such as race, religion, gender, nature, memory, and migration, producing a composite portrait of the present and the future.
Curator Dr. Ross Karlan proposes a space in which the artists inhabit this web of history. By exploring different geographies and narratives, the practices brought together in the exhibition reveal how matter and narrative can carry traces of both history and renewal.
